"Likewise, as it was in the time of Lot - people ate and drank, bought and sold, planted and built; That is how it will be in the day the Son of Man is revealed" Luke 17:28 & 30 (Jewish New Testament).
YHWH said of Sodom (the city were Lot was living), "They committed abomination before Me; therefore I removed them when I saw fit" (Ezekiel 16:59). The sin of Sodom which brought complete destruction upon it was homosexuality. Romans 1:21-32 describes the conditions of men which lead to this shameful and degrading abomination:
"When they (men) knew and recognized Him as Elohim, they did not honour and glorify Him as Elohim, or give him thanks. Therefore Elohim gave them up in the lusts of their (own) hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonouring of their bodies among themselves, abandoning them to the degrading power of sin. Because they exchanged the truth of Elohim for a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever.
"For this reason Elohim gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions. For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one; and the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze with lust for one another, men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences of their wrong doing and going astray which was (their) fitting retribution.
"And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge Elohim or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, YHWH gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome; until they were filled with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping, and covetous greed (and) malice. (They were) full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways.
("They were secret backbiters and gossipers, slanderers, hateful to and hating YHWH Eloha, full of insolence, arrogance (and) boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents. (They were) without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless (and) merciless. Though they are fully aware of Elohim's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them." [Amplified])
This is a description of the life of Sodom before it was destroyed, and also a description of modern-day life. Homosexuality is on the increase today. No longer do sexual deviates stroll the dark alleys and parks, but are brazen in their openness. This sin is no longer called perversion, but is referred to as the "gay world." In the last 10-20 years, both Britain and Canada legalised homosexuality. In a number of countries on the continent there is no restriction on adult homosexuals.
A generation ago, homosexuality was a secret activity, and a topic that was seldom discussed - it was a shame even to talk about it. Today it has come out into the open, and is the frequent subject of magazine articles, stage shows, and movies. Homosexual societies are increasing, and also the number of "gay" and "lesbian" magazines and papers. "The Advocate" has a circulation exceeding 60,000.
There are movements working towards "gay liberation." In 1976 or thereabouts, processions calling for legislation in the U.S.A. chanted "gay power," and a "Gay Pride Day" was celebrated widely - even being recognized by some Government leaders.
In the U.S.A., more than 800 homosexual organisations are operating. The travelling homosexual in some countries can buy a directory of "gay" saloons and bars. San Francisco rates as the "gay capital", and there are reportedly over 400 "gay" bars there. In Chicago, a person may join an exclusive and swank homosexual club by paying the U.S. $100 plus, initiation fee.
The Kinsey Report on homosexuality in the U.S.A., reveals that about 40% of white American males and 13% of females have had homosexual experiences.
Some of these are temporary excursions. Surveys have revealed that between 10 & 17% of the adult population have long periods of homosexuality. This estimate gives America over 4 million confirmed homosexuals, and Britain more than 1 million. Unfortunately, I don't have the figures of the extent of homosexuality in India or Asia, but it is known that homosexuality is running high just about everywhere throughout the world.
Illustrated Weekly of Sept. 3, 1972, published an article about the subject, which suggested that the number of homosexuals in India was probably as great as anywhere else. (And the same is just as true today as it was in 1972.) The author of the article says there are three hush-hush clubs on Bombay's Marine Drive. He also quoted a homosexual airlines steward as claiming to earn over $350.00 U.S. regularly as a male prostitute in a few nights in Arab ports of call. Male prostitutes in the Colaba area, command better prices than women.
At a Minnesota convention in June 1972, Presidential Candidate McGovern's zealots called for legalized homosexual marriage.
Several years ago, Newsweek reported that two homosexuals were "married" by a Roman Catholic priest in the Netherlands. The wedding ceremony was conducted in a school chapel, with both men's mothers and witnesses present. In the U.S.A. two who have been "married" for fifteen years, asked an Episcopal priest to bless their marriage. The priest agreed to do so, saying, "They both are very happy and very much in love."
Another Episcopal minister, Canon Robert W. Cromey, commenting on laws against homosexuality, said, "Laws like this are just silly. Certainly people over 21 should be able to have sexual relations with a lamp on if they want."
In Hollywood, a homosexual "church" has been founded by Rev.
Troy Perry, an admitted homosexual. He was pastor of the Church of God of
Prophecy (Pentecostal) in California, was married and the father of two children
when he decided to face his "problem". He left his wife, children and church
and moved to Hollywood. He launched his church with an advertisement in the
local newspaper and soon had 400 members. Perry then took the next step: the
creation of a national federation of churches for male and female homosexuals,
complete with moderator, elders, missionary branches and a seminary. It is
called the Metropolitan Community Church and now claims a total of over 80
congregations and several thousand members in San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago
and Los Angeles, plus growing congregations in a number of other cities.
Troy Perry has performed over 300 "gay marriages" so far. The Metropolitan
Churches serve as a dating centre for homosexuals. The "Gay Church" has also
been established in the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.
In a formal ceremony resembling an Episcopal wedding in the U.S.A. two men were "married" recently. The men said they hoped to adopt a child later on, and they have worked out a system of responsibilities around the house.
Another movement is led by Billy Hudson an ex-Baptist preacher who calls himself "Reverend" Hudson transferred the national headquarters of his American Association of Religious Crusaders to Nashville, Indiana, and plans to make the little city the "gay" place of the future. Hudson and eight partners are working on a monthly magazine called "Gay Crusader." Bragged Hudson, "I'm a homosexual and I'm proud of it."
The number of homosexuals "coming out of the closet" is increasing rapidly. In the U.S.A., even Senators, Congressmen and other leaders openly declare their homosexuality.
The Lesbian movement takes a prominent role in Women's Lib., and is demanding full acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. The "Gay Movement" is demanding that homosexuality be taught in schools as an alternative lifestyle.
Homosexuality is one more sign that the world is fast heading to the day of the wrath of YHWH. Sodom perished. So will this depraved and corrupt world!
